Although Apple's new MacBook Pro model is flawless with its performance, it has been talked about much more with its design. Because the company's return to the design language features used in the past years, "Is Apple going back?" led to questions. Here are some 'old' innovations on the MacBook Pro...
The MacBook Pro, which was announced at an event organized by the US-based technology giant Apple last night, came to the fore especially with the changes made in its design. Because, for the first time, the company preferred a notched screen on its new laptop. However, the fact that this notched screen does not contain Face ID support did not satisfy the consumers. Many people think that this notch, which is hidden by black coloring in full-screen applications, is unnecessary.
Although the most striking aspect in the design of the MacBook Pro is the notch, the changes made are not limited to this. So much so that the company has also returned to some of the design language features it used in the past. In this content, we will talk about some of the features that Apple officially backs up. If you wish, let's take a closer look at what those features are.
Here are some "old" innovations that Apple implemented in the new MacBook Pro
Touch Bar is gone
On the left you see the 2020 model, on the right you see the 2021 model MacBook Pro.
Apple had a section called Touch Bar in previous versions of the MacBook Pro. This hardware that we saw on the keyboard enabled a touchpad to be used for some functions. It was different but not necessary. The 2021 MacBook Pro has eliminated this feature.
MagSafe is back
With a radical decision, Apple made a clear transition to USB Type-C. However, there was no support for the magnetic charging system called MagSafe. One of the important features of the 2021 model MacBook Pro was the support offered for this technology. The feature, which is available under the name MagSafe 3, seems to please many consumers.
More link support
Apple only included the USB Type-C port on the previous generation MacBook Pro models. However, in addition to MagSafe, the new model has an HDMI port, an SDXC card reader, and a wired headphone jack, in addition to 3 Thunderbolt 4 inputs.
Reverted to old keyboard design
At the top you see the latest MacBook Pro and at the bottom you see the 2001 PowerBook G4.
For years, Apple has been using a keyboard design where each button is separate from each other. However, that has changed this year. The company has returned to the jet black keyboard that it stopped using almost 20 years ago.
The overall build is very similar to the 2004 model PowerBook
You see the 2021 MacBook Pro on the left, and a 2004 PowerBook on the right.
Apple used relatively softened corners in the PowerBook model it launched in 2004. In 2021, this design language does not go unnoticed...
So what do you think about this? Apple made a radical change by comparing the new iPhone models to the iPhone 5S design. Is this an indication of a return to the past?
