Apple announced that this year's Worldwide Conference of Developers (WWDC) will be held online due to the continuing outbreak of the corona virus. Apple stated that the event will be in June but the date is not yet clear. The traditional announcement said it would include a “completely new online experience” that included the keynote and developer sessions.

Apple Marketing Chief Phil Schiller said in his statement that the decision to move WWDC to the internet was made due to his "current health condition". More details about the event will be shared "in the coming weeks".

In recent years, the event was held in San Jose. Apple has announced that it will donate $ 1 million to San Jose organizations this year to make up for the event.

WWDC usually starts with an opening note that displays later versions of iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, and Apple devotes the rest of the week to development sessions for their platform. However, due to the corona virus outbreak this year, the company  will take a different approach by making these sessions and opening speech online.
