Cyber attacks have occurred on VPNs, the internet technology that enables connecting to different networks via remote access. It was announced that hackers are conducting cyber attacks on VPNs and trying to infiltrate companies with these attacks.
According to the report shared by ClearSky , Iran's state-sponsored hackers launched cyber attacks on VPN servers of many software companies, including Pulse Secure, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet and Citrix in 2019.
It is said that the target of the hackers is the companies serving in the telecommunications, oil, gas, aviation and security sectors. It is reported that Iranian hackers do not have less experience than hackers working in Russia, China and North Korea.
It has been announced that the Iranian hacker group has been attacking through the vulnerabilities in Pulse Secure, Fortinet FortiOS VPN and Palo Alto Networks. It was also said that hackers quickly detected these vulnerabilities and attacked in a very short time.
The report explained that the purpose of cyber attacks is to open back doors to break corporate networks and easily infiltrate them at a later date. It is claimed that hackers can delete data. Two new types of malicious data deletions have been discovered since September 2019 .
