Senior official from Huawei confirmed: The Chinese technology giant will cease production of Kirin processors by September.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Electronics Group, recently confirmed that Huawei will cease production of high-end Kirin processors after September. It seems that the company is planning to start its own chipset production .
According to a tipster from Weibo, Huawei is working with several companies and necessary material manufacturers to set up its own semiconductor production line in the semiconductor industry supply chain. The company aims to build its own chip factory, integrated circuit chips, and chip manufacturing facility to produce semiconductor designs without the need for America's hardware and components. Currently, Huawei's semiconductor division has experience in designing HiSilicon chips, but due to business constraints with TSMC , they are unable to reveal these designs, and this is the only major challenge Huawei has to face to make its own processors.
According to the source, Huawei has not officially confirmed or announced these news via official platforms, but it appears that a project is underway behind the doors. 45nm and 28nm are the best start-up options for the Chinese tech giant, but major processor manufacturers such as TSMC and Samsung are planning to make processors that go through the 3nm manufacturing process. Therefore, Huawei has to go a long way and go through the R&D process to reach its semiconductor manufacturing goals.
