India surpasses U.S. to become second largest phone market

HomepageArticlesIndia surpasses U.S. to become second largest ...

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, India has now become a larger smartphone market than the US.

China, currently the world's largest smartphone market, is well ahead of its competitors. In the second seat, although there was a conflict between the United States and India from time to time , America often led the race ahead.

According to a new report by Counterpoint Research, the USA fell to third place, remaining behind India in the second biggest phone market race.

The success of Chinese manufacturers in recent years has brought China forward in the world's largest telephone market race.

Especially  Chinese brands such as Xiaomi , Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Realme made up 72 percent of the 158 million phones sold in the country. Despite the growing popularity of Chinese brands, however, Samsung remains the second largest manufacturer in the country.

INTEREST IN INDIA MARKET

Since the low-cost wireless internet became widespread, the Indian market has become the focus of phone manufacturers worldwide.

While Chinese companies dominated the market by investing heavily in India, 138 million phones sent to the country in 2019 made India second in the US.

Given that India is the second most populous country in the world, this result is not surprising. A large section of the country did not have access to smartphones a few years ago.

The introduction of low-cost phones to the market made more people prefer smartphones and increased the total number of smartphone users in the country to 438 million.

438 million users seem to be quite a lot, but this figure is only one third of the total population of India. So there is still a lot of space for the phone market in the country to grow.
