In the WWDC20 event, which started with Tim Cook's speech alone, the innovations of iOS 14 update were first mentioned . Widgets come in various sizes and are viewable in the Today view, but on iOS 14 let you add live home screen widgets right next to your Apple apps . Even a special gallery has been created for widgets . You can easily discover and add new widgets from the Widgets gallery. There is also a new Smart Stack widget that automatically displays related apps according to the time of day .
Apple also announced the App Library view, which automatically organizes apps into new groups and lists . Thanks to this new App Library view, you can now hide apps on their home screen. It looks pretty similar to the Android app, but it does have some additional smart grouping features like gathering all Apple Arcade games in one place .
Another new feature is that Apple has added picture-in-picture to iOS videos across the system . As with macOS, videos appear on apps, can be adjusted in size, and narrowed to the side of the screen to ensure continuous playback.
Siri also got a new look. When you activate the digital assistant, instead of taking over your entire screen, it takes up a small area under the screen with the animated Siri icon. Siri can now send voice messages.
Apple also announced the new Translate app, which will be added to iOS . It allows you to easily translate between languages such as Google Translate. You can enter text or dictate the message. Translation support is available in 11 languages .
Messages are also gaining new features. In iOS 14, you can pin important contacts and chats to the top of the Messages app for easy conversation with your favorite friends or group chats. New Memoji accessories have also been added. Apple has also added a feature to chat that lets you talk about specific people.
CarPlay gets support for custom wallpapers and new app categories (parking apps, EV chargers, fast food extraction apps). Apple is also adding support for the NFC car key with iOS 14. The 2021 BMW 5 Series will be the first model to support this feature. The new car key feature will also come to iOS 13.
