Microsoft Edge has become very popular thanks to its low RAM and processor usage. The browser, which is Chromium-based and also runs add-ons, comes preloaded on the Windows 10 platform. Microsoft Edge, which has been struggling with Mozilla Firefox for a long time, managed to surpass Firefox.
Microsoft Edge becomes the third most popular browser
Firefox and Edge have been going head-to-head in recent months. According to June figures, Edge holds 3.4 percent of the browser market. In Firefox, this rate is 3.29 percent. Firefox lost its market share within a year, which it gained in a 10-year period. Edge's market share puts it in third place behind Chrome (65.27 percent) and Safari (18.34 percent).
The new Chromium-based Edge, released in January 2020, had a slow start, but started to gain more momentum after 1 year. The market share of Microsoft Edge has more than tripled since last summer. This increase is due in part to revamped marketing techniques and updating like other modern browsers.
Edge comes pre-installed on Windows 10. It wasn't like this before, and as it came pre-loaded, it reached millions of users overnight. Microsoft continues to work on updating Edge and making it more efficient.
