Netflix Determined to Rock the Gaming World: Acquires First Game Studio!

Netflix announced that it has acquired Night School Studio, which managed to make a name for itself with the game Oxenfree, which it released in 2016. The statements made reveal that the purchase pleased both parties.

Independent developer Night School Studio, which managed to make a splash in the industry with its game called Oxenfree, released in 2016, was officially purchased by Netflix. Mike Verdu, the second person responsible for Netflix's game development unit, stated that this acquisition is an opportunity to do great work. Repeating the words of the past, Verdu stated that the experience to be offered to subscribers is still in its early stages.

Playing games on Netflix will be free for subscribers

Although Mike Verdu did not say how much Night School Studio was purchased, he made some statements regarding the agenda. Stating that brave projects related to story-based games are also of interest to them, the Netflix manager stated that Night School Studio will not be the first and will not be the last. Verdu said that they will continue to work with developers from all over the world.

The founder and CCO of Night School Studio, which is currently working on Oxenfree II, Sean Krankel also made statements on the subject. Stating that they are proud of being the first game studio acquired by Netflix, Krankel stated that they are also very excited to prepare brand new productions for the players. Expressing that their switch to Netflix did not change anything for them and that they will continue to do what they have done so far, the company founder also announced that this process will not affect Oxenfree II.
