Messenger Rooms integration to WhatsApp's iOS application has arrived. Thanks to this, the limit of 8 people in group calls increased to 50 people, even if indirectly.

The  Messenger Rooms feature, which provides video calls up to 50 people without any time limitation  , has been integrated into the WhatsApp application for iOS. This feature, which was previously added to Instagram and WhatsApp Web, can now be used on iPhones with the latest update to WhatsApp's iOS application.

Due to the increasing need for group calls due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WhatsApp increased the 4-person participant limit for group calls to 8 , and with the room integration, this number increased to 50 people , albeit indirectly . 

How to create a room on WhatsApp?

1. Open the chat page of the person / group you want to chat with and click the "+" icon on the left of the message field. Then tap the room option at the top of the menu that opens.
2. Click on "Switch to Messenger" option in the notification window that appears.
3. After you are directed to the Messenger application, you can determine the name of the room from the screen that appears, choose the one that suits you from the room activity section and then click the create room button.
4. Your room is ready. Now all you have to do is share the room link on WhatsApp so other people can join the room. To do this, click on the "Send link on WhatsApp" button at the bottom of the page.

After the 4-step setup steps, the following message with the room link is sent to the people you want to talk to:

In order for other people to join the room using this invitation link, the person who created the room must be in the room . Otherwise, when someone wants to join, the room owner receives a call via Messenger, and they cannot access the room until the room owner accepts the call.

You don't need a Facebook account to join the conversation

You do not need to have a Facebook or Messenger account to be able to make calls through the Messenger room. It is possible to participate in the meeting via any browser by clicking the invitation link shared by the room owner  . 

The same is not true for the person who will create the room. Because in order to create a room in Messenger, the session owner must have a Facebook account. Because you need to login to Messenger to start a room. Therefore, the person who will create the room must have a Facebook account.
