It is also expected that the camera protrusions will increase. Several reliable sources, including renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, have suggested that the size of the notch will shrink on the 2021 iPhones. According to Bloomberg, Apple has been testing an in-display Touch ID fingerprint scanner for iPhone models since the day the iPhone X was launched. On the other hand, some reports suggest that Apple is working on an in-display fingerprint sensor using optical technology, while some reports point to ultrasonic technology.
Ultrasonic technology, which uses sound waves to make sense of the fingerprint, works safer and more effectively than optical technology. However, there is still no clear information about Apple's intentions for Touch ID.
