According to The Independent, the Apple Watch, a smart watch produced by the Apple brand, saved the life of a New York Marathon runner thanks to a special "fall detection" system within it.
25-year-old runner Brandon Schneider said that the Apple Watch saved his life thanks to a special "fall detection" system within it.

Schneider, who works as a sales professional and qualified running coach, was taken to the emergency room last month for a kidney stone complaint. He went to the bathroom in the emergency room and fell unconscious due to severe pain. The US runner, whose head hit a hard surface, suffered a "brain hemorrhage".

Thanks to its “fall detection” system, Apple Watch detects fall situations by making use of the watch's sensors and can automatically send notifications to predefined contacts and emergency teams.

If Apple Watch detects that you've fallen, it vibrates, triggers an alarm, and displays an alert. According to Apple's website, you can choose to call emergency services or dismiss the alert by pressing the "hang up" button in the top-right corner or clicking the "I'm fine" button.

When Schneider thought hard, the smartwatch's "fall detection" system kicked in and sent notifications to emergency teams. Thanks to this feature of the smart watch, the life of the American runner was saved.
