What is a Router?

HomepageArticlesWhat is a Router?

You may know the concept of modem. Because almost 9 out of 10 people go to the Internet. So what is Router do you know it? In this article, we will share with you what is Router.

Modem and router

You have witnessed that many names of modems and routers are used for the same purpose, but this is not true. The two may be similar but have different tasks.

Briefly modem

Modem is a device that allows you to receive and use your Internet access, i.e. signal, from your Internet service provider. Required to connect to the Internet.

Router in short

The router is a signal emitter that connects to the modem. You cannot just connect to the Internet with a router. The router must first be connected to the modem. In this way, it can give the Internet to the devices connected to it.

The router is often used where a large number of Internet connections are required. Like a workplace. As you know, in a small workplace with 10 computers and several printers, it is not possible to provide your Internet needs to only one model. Because the modem does not have that many ports, the load on it will be large. Therefore, such needs are met by router.

The router simply performs the following task, by taking the Internet from the modem, it distributes the Internet to multiple connected devices. In this way, a large number of computers can have solid Internet access over a modem.
